Hope in Eclipse

"It's okay,"

submission: Hope in Eclipse
date: December 8, 2008

It's okay, but it's nothing too special. Reminds me of a REALLY toned-down mixture of Dethklok and Amon Amarth, if that's possible. Sorry to be so critical, I usually like stuff like this, but it didn't really appeal to me.

I can really hear Wintersun and Symphony X behind this, and it would be even cooler if it had harsh vocals.

[AD] Werewolf

"This is amazing!"

submission: [AD] Werewolf

Seriously, you need to start a band or something! You're good enough to be signed by Nuclear Blast! This is the kind of unrivaled unnoficial excellency you can only hear at the Troc.

One thing I'd say it needs, vocals. Without a singer, this sounds more melodic than power.

yeah, a band would kick ass, but would require quite alot of skill from all participants, including myself. we'll have to wait and see what the future offers.

The New Motion

"Horrible."

submission: The New Motion
date: October 10, 2007

Alright, I know you purposley did the drums off-timing, but that's what REALLY threw the entire thing into false metal. The guitar was allright, and the bass wasn't bad, but the time signature mixed with that of the drumming made me wince.

Duncan Hill Theme-Metaljonus

"Some things were out of place"

date: October 10, 2007

I noticed that the begining riff wasn't on as low of a scale as the real thing, and the blast beat was slower. Also, the solo wasn't double-panned in the real song, like yours was.

Other than that, this was a good cover.

Forsaken

"Well..."

submission: Forsaken

It's quite obvious from the use of the popping snare that you aren't very educated in combining different metal riffs. Like, in the begining, the synth told me this was going to be a symphonic black metal song. When the guitar kicked in, it sounded more melodic than symphonic. And when the slow part and synth were playing together, I got the nu metal feeling.

Now the breakdown. If you're going to have one in your song, at least don't have the drums breakdown as well. The double-pan effect was nice, but the use of high-hat and crash threw the balance of bass drum and rythym guitar.

It doesn't make me think of vampires, but more of a man with black armor riding a horse through a burning forest.

All in all, it was still a nice piece of work, 6/10 and 3/5.

Eternity's End

"Incredible!"

submission: Eternity's End
date: October 10, 2007

Every aspect of this song, every riff, beat, and chord progression was unrecreatably amazing. This is definently the greatest subbmission in the Audio Portal.

This song has the perfect mix of guitar, bass, drums and synth.

Gut You Like A Pig (mastered)

"Eh."

date: September 27, 2007

Could have been a little longer, the vocals didn't really have the 'death metal' feel to them, they weren't to comprehendable(yeah, I know they're harsh vocals, but a lot of people can understand them), and it was just overall uncatchy. Sorry for the hard critizism, but I just didn't like it.

Author's Response:

No worries at all man, I love it when people actually criticize my songs. Not everyone is going to like it, and in the end it was a tune I did for shits n' giggles. Thanks a lot for the review.
